On Thursday, November 4, TPH and Latham & Watkins hosted a mini-conference for private midstream companies – “Raising Capital and Exploring Your Options.” With over 75 attendees, the conference served as a forum for private midstream companies to hear from industry leaders on a wide-range of strategic options.

Dave Pursell, Head of Macro Research at TPH, kicked off the morning with an overview of the macro commodity price environment and his thesis on where oil and gas prices are headed. His session segued to a panel on the upstream landscape led by Gleeson Van Riet (CFO at Sanchez Energy). Raising capital in a challenging commodity price environment remains a hot topic and attendees enjoyed hearing perspective on both raising capital and putting it to work from Chris Abbatte (Managing Director, Riverstone Holdings LLC) and Rob Horn (Senior Managing Director, GSO Capital Partners, LP). The next panel shifted the focus from the private market to the public market with commentary on preparing for an IPO from former Southcross Energy Partners CFO J. Michael Anderson (CFO at Layne Christensen). A session on private midstream M&A followed, and we were fortunate to have Ben Lamb (Senior Vice President at EnLink Midstream Partners, LP) share his thoughts on growing via acquisition. As lunch was served, Griff Jones (President & CEO at Twin Eagle Resource Management LLC) took the stage to outline his career and the building of Twin Eagle.
